The Yushan Xiaofeixia, also known as the Yushan Peter Pan, is a popular urban legend in Taiwan. The legend revolves around a group of ghost who are said to have gone missing on Yushan (Jade Mountain), the highest peak in Taiwan, while wearing yellow raincoats. The story has been passed down through generations and has become an integral part of Taiwanese folklore and culture.

Story[]

Before the 1990s, there was no such statement or legend. It is generally seen by hikers on Yushan Mountain and is considered to be related to mountain disasters. It is said that three people wearing large wide-rimmed bamboo hats and yellow mountaineering cloak raincoats (commonly known as "Peter Pan raincoats") were seen at the intersection of the South Peak Fork of Yushan Mountain. The man was standing on the edge of the valley.

It was clear that the team was in front, but some hikers left the team without knowing why and followed these three people into the valley. Others say that these three people will lead hikers in the wrong direction. It is said that Hu Liangwu and Zhu Keli, the former administrators of Paiyun Villa, also witnessed several unknown persons with similar characteristics knocking on the door.

Similar legends later appeared in the Qilai Mountain area where mountain disasters are common. Since the location may not be limited to Yushan, from the perspective of folk belief, it is considered a mountain charm. Folklore researchers believe that the behavior of the Yushan Peter Pan has the meaning of catching the ghosts of innocent people, and is not like the classic folk image of the mountain charm.
